5 ways to avoid surgery errors

Surgical errors are sadly common. Among this year's mistakes, Minnesota doctors removed the healthy kidney of a cancer patient while leaving the diseased one behind, and an experienced surgeon in Boston operated on the wrong side of a patient. But CNN reporter Elizabeth Cohen says there are ways to help reduce surgical error risk. In this article, Cohen offers five things you can do before surgery to help decrease the chances your surgery will become a surgical mistake.
