Agency recommends restricted use of piroxicam
The European Medicines Agency (EMEA) says medications that contain
piroxicam should be restricted because of the risk of
gastrointestinal problems and serious skin reactions. These
products, which include the painkiller Feldene, should only be used
to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing
spondylitis, the agency says, and not short-term pain or
inflammatory conditions.
