Addiction meds linked to depression
Anti-addiction medications designed to help people quit smoking, lose weight, and halt their addictions to alcohol and illegal drugs have been linked to depression, new research suggests. These drugs work by blocking pleasure centers in the brain that provide the feel-good response from smoking or eating. But experts say these drugs may block pleasure too well, possibly raising the risk of depression and suicide.
