Anxiety may help older women live longer
Higher levels of anxiety help elderly women live longer,
researchers say, but they appear to shorten the lives of older men.
A team of scientists followed the progress of 1,000 seniors and
found that women with higher levels of anxiety at the start of the
study lived longer than others. In contrast to women, men with
higher anxiety levels at the start of the study were more likely to
die earlier. Researchers say the higher anxiety levels may lead
women to seek medical treatment more often than men.
