British launch 'one egg' IVF strategy
British fertility experts and government officials have launched a
strategy to reduce the number of twins born after in vitro
fertilization (IVF) treatment. Experts say multiple births are more
dangerous and they hope that by implanting only one embryo at a
time they can reduce the number of multiple births. The new
strategy is drawing criticism from some who say that undergoing
several IVF rounds is too costly, and that until the price comes
down people will continue to have multiple embryos implanted.
