Cancer patients may suffer from post-traumatic stress

A cancer diagnosis is stressful for every woman, but it may be particularly hard for women who have suffered from depression or anxiety, a new study suggests. Researchers at Ohio State University found that 16 percent of women who had suffered from a mood disorder prior to a breast cancer diagnosis showed signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. The study's authors say that women who have suffered from depression or anxiety and are diagnosed with cancer should talk to their doctor about possible coping strategies.
