Cancer patients should avoid antioxidants

A new study suggests that cancer patients undergoing chemo or radiation should avoid taking antioxidant supplements. The study's authors say supplements such as green tea, vitamin A, and vitamin E may decrease the effectiveness of cancer treatment. Antioxidants help protect cells from damage, but they may also protect cancer cells. Experts say it's okay to take a multivitamin, but patients should avoid high-dose supplements of antioxidants.
