Coffee before breakfast boosts blood sugar

Drinking coffee before eating a high-carb breakfast may cause a dramatic rise in blood sugar, a new study suggests. Canadian researchers studied 10 healthy men and found that those who drank caffeinated coffee at least an hour before eating their morning cereal had blood sugar spikes that were 250 percent higher than the men who had decaffeinated coffee or water. And the men who had coffee before eating a low-sugar cereal had higher blood-sugar levels than those who drank decaf before eating the sweeter cereal.
