Court: Healthy Vioxx users not drugmaker's responsibility
The New Jersey Supreme Court has ruled that Merck & Co, maker
of the painkiller Vioxx, will not have to monitor former users who
aren't claiming they were injured by the drug. Some Vioxx users had
brought a lawsuit against Merck, saying that though they didn't
have current symptoms, they were more prone to health problems
because of their Vioxx use. The patient were seeking to have Merck
pay for health monitoring, but the New Jersey court dismissed the
case.
