Depression, anxiety linked to unhealthy habits

A large U.S. study has found that people who suffer from depression or anxiety are much more likely to be obese and to smoke, both of which are major risk factors for chronic disease. Researchers say that the link between depression and anxiety and unhealthy habits is plausible for several reasons. First, many overweight people may be prone to depression because of societal attitudes towards obesity. Also, depression can lead people to eat more and gain weight.
