A drink or two per day cuts heart-disease risks--but only for men
Middle-aged men who consume one to two drinks per day experienced a 41-percent reduction in heart-disease risks over men who do not drink at all, a study by the National Institute for Public Health in Copenhagen has found. Women experienced a 36-percent decrease in cardiovascular risks from consuming alcohol, but were able to achieve this benefit with only one drink per week. Once-a-week male drinkers reduced their risks by only 7 percent.
