FDA rejects new cholesterol med

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has rejected an experimental cholesterol med, saying the agency needs more information about the drug. The med, called Cordaptive (MK-0524A), lowers bad cholesterol and raises good cholesterol and has been recommended for approval in Europe. Drugmaker Merck says it plans to resubmit the drug's application with the FDA's required information, this time under the brand name Tredaptive.
