FDA tentatively approves generic Flomax

The Food and Drug Administration has given tentative approval to drugmaker Ranbaxy for a generic form of Flomax. Flomax is approved to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia--a condition that causes a man's urine stream to weaken or slow down. Ranbaxy plans to market the generic form of Flomax when the med's patent expires in 2009.
