FDA wants new warnings for Enbrel

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants a new label for the rheumatoid arthritis drug Enbrel that warns the drug can be deadly when taken by children and can cause serious infections in adults. FDA officials say the agency has received reports of infections, malignancies, and neurological problems among children using the drug to treat psoriasis. Though Enbrel's use in children is thought to be limited, FDA officials say the number of life-threatening reactions among these young patients is "concerning."
