Groups issues new Alzheimer's drug guidelines
New guidelines based on 96 different studies suggest that none of the five available Alzheimer's drugs work better than any of the others, and what effect the meds do have is modest. The guidelines, developed by a committee from the American College of Physicians and American Academy of Family Physicians, suggests that doctors focus on Alzheimer's medications' tolerability, adverse effects, and ease of use and cost, rather than the meds' effectiveness.
