HRT can cause abnormal mammograms

A new study suggests that women who take combined hormone therapy may have a higher risk of inaccurate mammograms and biopsies. HRT makes breast tissue denser, which makes it harder to get an accurate reading from a mammogram, according to researchers. The increase in abnormal mammograms lasted for at least 12 months even after women stopped taking hormone therapy, the study found.
