HRT patch may be safer for the gall bladder

A new study shows that hormone replacement therapy delivered in a patch may lower the risk of gallbladder disease as compared to HRT in pill form. Researchers found that women who took HRT through a patch or gel were significantly less likely to be hospitalized for gallbladder disease and less likely to need their gallbladder removed than women who received HRT in tablets. Post-menopausal women are prone to gallbladder disease, and research has shown that HRT increases the risk. The researchers studied data from 1.3 million British women ages 50 to 69 years.  Read full story >
