Hypnosis may ease inflammation from ulcerative colitis

Treating ulcerative colitis patients with hypnosis therapy may help reduce bowel inflammation, a small study suggests. Researchers had 17 ulcerative colitis patients undergo "gut-focused" hypnosis for 50 minutes, while a control group listened to music of their own choice. At the study's end, the inflammation blood marker IL-6 had fallen by 53 percent in the group who went through hypnotherapy.
