Incense linked to respiratory cancers
The smoke from burning incense may smell sweet, but new research
has linked it to respiratory cancers. A study that followed 61,320
Chinese men and women for 12 years found that those who burned the
most incense had the highest rates of throat, nasal, and oral
cancer. Researchers also found that study participants who used
incense in their homes were 80 percent more likely than non-users
to develop squamous cell carcinoma of the respiratory tract.
