New brain cancer drug may damage kids' bones
A promising medication for brain cancer may be too dangerous to use
in pediatric patients, a new animal study suggests. The
drug--called HhAntag--appeared to fully eliminate brain tumors in
mice in a 2004 study. But researchers say just two days of
treatment permanently altered the bone structure and joint
formation of young mice. Experts say they believe the side effects
would be similar in young children.
