Office program cuts headaches, shoulder pain

Italian researchers say office workers who took place in an eight-month program reduced their headaches and neck pain and cut their use of painkillers in half. Staff in the study group were asked to carry out relaxation and posture exercises every two to three hours. Red labels were also placed around their work area to remind them to avoid tensing their head and shoulder muscles. By the end of the trial, the workers who followed the program reported 41 percent fewer headaches and 43 percent less neck and shoulder pain than those who didn't do the program. They also cut their use of pain meds by 51 percent.
