'Pear shape' may protect against diabetes

According to Harvard researchers, not all fat is created equal. In a new animal study, scientists found that the type of fat that accumulates around the bottom and hips--called subcutaneous fat--may actually help improve sensitivity to insulin. The researchers transferred subcutaneous fat into the abdomen of mice and found that the animals lost weight, even with no change in diet.
