Q&A: The evolution of Crohn's treatments
A newly-diagnosed Crohn's patient asks experts at The Mayo Clinic
about the treatment options available for her condition. According
to gastroenterologist Michael Picco, the standard for patients with
inflammatory bowel disease is to begin with the safest drugs and
then move on to riskier medications if patients don't respond.
Picco gives details on the hierarchy of medications, including
information on who is most likely to respond to drugs such as
Cimzia, Humira, and Remicade.
