Wealth linked to teen cancer
British researchers say that the cancer rates for teenagers are
increasing, and money may dictate even what type of cancer teens
get. Wealthy teens are more likely to get skin cancer, most likely
due to sunny vacations and access to outdoor sports. Poorer teens
aren't off the hook, though. Researchers found that the cervical
cancer rates for poorer teens were skyrocketing, possibly because
poorer kids may know less about safe sex and they may be less
likely to get preventive care such as the cervical cancer vaccine.
