Scientists ID gene linked to childhood IBD
Researchers at Emory University say they've identified a gene that
may determine whether a child develops inflammatory bowel disease
(IBD). The gene--called TNFRSF6B--was active in the 1,000 children
researchers studied who had IBD, but not in the group of children
who were healthy. Experts say that treatments are already being
developed to target a similar gene, and that those treatments may
work in controlling the disease in children as well.
