Serevent plus Flovent may reduce hospital visits

Combining the asthma treatment Serevent with the inhaled corticosteroid Flovent may reduce the risk of asthma hospitalization, researchers say. In a recent trial, patients who were treated with the Serevent, Flovent combination--either using the drug Advair which combines both drugs, or with a dose of each drug separately--were half as likely to have worsening asthma symptoms as those treated with Flovent alone. Patients using the combined treatment also had fewer hospital visits.
