Study: Drug combo eases migraines when taken early

A new combination drug taken within an hour after the start of a migraine headache provides effective relief of pain and other symptoms for up to 24 hours, two studies suggest. The drug, which combines the active ingredient in Imitrex with the painkiller naproxen, was tested in two studies that totaled 1,111 patients. Researchers found that 50 percent of patients given the combo drug within an hour of the onset of migraine symptoms were pain-free two hours after taking the dose, compared to 16 percent of those given a placebo.  Read full story >
