Study: Heart implants can be hacked
Implanted heart defibrillators, which automatically shock a
fluttering heart back into a normal rhythm, can be hacked from the
outside, a new study suggests. Scientists using inexpensive
computer equipment were able to get one device to give up patient
information off its computer chip and fire improperly, and they ran
down its battery. Researchers say there is no immediate danger to
patients, and they have offered industry experts and regulators a
way to fix the problem.
