Study: Joint replacements worth it

Researchers say undergoing joint replacement surgery may well be worth the trouble for older people with severe osteoarthritis (OA). In a recent study of 174 men and women aged 65 and older who suffered from severe OA of the hip or knee, investigators found that the 29 percent who underwent a hip or knee replacement had markedly improved symptoms after one year compared to those who didn't have the procedure.
