Study: Lipitor does not delay Alzheimer's

A large national study has found that the cholesterol drug Lipitor does not slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Previous studies have shown that high cholesterol may raise the risk of developing the disease, so experts theorized that a statin may help slow Alzheimer's progression. But this study, sponsored by drugmaker Pfizer, found no statistical difference in disease worsening between patients who took Lipitor and those who received a placebo.
