Study: Veterans have serious sleep problems
Veterans returning from the Iraq wars have as much trouble sleeping
as patients suffering from chronic insomnia, according to small
study. The study focused on a sample of 14 veterans of Operation
Iraqi Freedom (OIF) with post-deployment adjustment disorders. They
were compared to 14 insomnia patients and 14 good sleepers who were
all free of medical and psychiatric disorders. Veterans had more
nightmares and body movements, and lower sleep quality than both
patients with insomnia and good sleepers.
