Transition to digital mammograms causing repeat scans
Many doctors are moving to digital mammograms instead of
traditional X-ray film mammograms. This change has caused an
increase in follow-up mammograms as doctors learn to interpret
digital mammograms. The problem is that when a radiologist looks at
a woman�s first digital image, she has to decide
whether a change in the breast is new or if it was there all along
but not visible with film imaging.
