Upping good cholesterol may protect memory

Increasing your good cholesterol (HDL) level may help protect your memory in old age, a new study suggests. Researchers asked 3,000 British people to memorize 20 words. They found that for people age 55, low levels of good cholesterol were associated with a 27 percent increased risk of memory loss compared to those who had high levels. When tested again at age 60, the difference between those with high and low good cholesterol levels was even more significant.
