Vaccine may double brain tumor survival
Researchers from Duke University say that a new vaccine may double
the survival rate for patients with a common and deadly brain
tumor. The vaccine targets a protein found in some tumors and helps
the immune system kill it, researchers say. In a Phase II clinical
trail of 23 patients, the vaccine doubled the survival rate of
patients and more than doubled the length of time before the
cancer's recurrence.
