Watermelon may help heart, libido
Texas A&M researchers have found that watermelons contain compounds that can benefit the heart and circulatory system and may even provide a Viagra-like lift to the libido. The investigators found that when people eat watermelon, a nutrient called citrulline is converted into an amino acid called arginine. This conversion helps the heart, the immune system, and it may be helpful for those who suffer from obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Arginine also relaxes blood vessels, which is the same effect that Viagra has on people with erectile dysfunction.
