Study: Bone-loss meds prevent fractures

Women over 50 who take osteoporosis meds known as anti-resorptive agents reduce their risk of low-trauma fractures by an average of 32 percent, Canadian researchers say. Anti-resorptive agents slow down the gradual loss of bone. They include such meds as estrogen, bisphosphonates, selective estrogen-receptor modulators, and calcitonin.
