People who have rumors and gossip spread about them when they're teens still suffer psychological effects of this "social bullying" as adults, new research suggests. In this type of bullying, perpetrators don't threaten people with physical harm. Instead, they target a person's social status and relationships by gossiping and spreading rumors. Investigators found that even though these teens have grown up and moved into different settings, many still suffer from social anxiety and depression well into adulthood.
