Discovery could lead to osteoporosis screening

Scientists say they've identified two gene variants that may boost a person's risk of both osteoporosis and the fractures associated with the disease. British researchers say these variants are present in more than one in five people in the population studies, which means the presence of these genes may one day be used to help doctors screen patients for osteoporosis.
