Use of Site

It is possible to use some services offered by the Site without registering and becoming a member. However, most of the Site’s services require membership registration and choosing a user name and password. If you become a MedTrackAlert member, you will be required to provide some personal information as noted below. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of this information, and any inaccuracies may affect the information you receive when using the Site.

Subscription to Newsletters

The primary benefit of a MedTrackAlert membership is the provision by MedTrackAlert of e-mail newsletters in relation to various prescription medications. To subscribe to the newsletters, you must provide MedTrackAlert with your contact information, including your first and last name, e-mail address, gender, age and mailing address. Please do not provide any personal information other than what is specifically requested; MedTrackAlert will take reasonable steps to protect such information but cannot guarantee its confidentiality. By subscribing to a MedTrackAlert newsletter, you implicitly give us permission to share your information with vendors who are essential in the delivery of services and features included in your subscription. For example, our Web-hosting and e-mail delivery vendors may need to store your information on their servers while helping us send you your weekly reports. However, these essential vendors will use your personal information only as needed to deliver products and services that you have requested from MedTrackAlert.

You can unsubscribe from a newsletter by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the text of the email that delivers the newsletter. You may also unsubscribe from a newsletter by changing your preferences in the "My Account" section of the Site. Please note that it may take up to ten (10) business days to be removed from a newsletter mailing list.

For Users Over the Age of 18 Only

This Site and the newsletters sent by MedTrackAlert are intended for use only by individuals over the age of 18. If you are under 18 years of age, you are not authorized to use the Site.

Use of Information by MedTrackAlert

MedTrackAlert may use your user name and password to call up your information from our database to make using the Site faster and easier. MedTrackAlert may record your preferences and use of the Site and analyze that information. We do so to keep abreast of your interests and to improve and better focus the Site and the advertisements contained on the Site on the specific topics in which our members show interest. MedTrackAlert may use your e-mail address to communicate with you about the Site, to provide you with MedTrackAlert’s newsletters or other requested services and to alert you to certain offers and/or promotions.

Like many Web sites, we use cookies on the Site. Cookies are small strings of data placed on a user’s personal computer hard drive during the exchange of data that happens when your browser points to this Site. Cookies enable a Web site to identify a user’s browser as a previous visitor by means of a unique string of numbers assigned on a previous visit. MedTrackAlert’s cookies assist us in collecting information on the pages of the Site you access or visit and helps us improve the Site. Our cookies cannot and do not retrieve any other data from your hard drive or pass on computer viruses.

Most Web browsers can be set to reject all cookies. Information about your specific browser can be found under your browser’s "Help" menu. If you reject the cookies used by our Site, certain functions of the Site may not work properly. If you would like to know more about cookies we encourage you to read the US Government Information Bulletin (I-034) regarding cookie technology. To read the bulletin, click: http://www.ciac.org/ciac/bulletins/i-034.shtml.

From time to time, MedTrackAlert may conduct online research to gather feedback about this Site, sponsors and other topics, through e-mail surveys, pop-up surveys and online focus groups. When participating in a research project, we may ask you to submit personal information, which would be used for research purposes and not for solicitations. MedTrackAlert will not knowingly accept survey responses from or conduct interviews with any person under the age of 18. In addition to collecting survey responses from our members, cookies may be used to authenticate respondents or to help you pick up where you left off in a survey.

MedTrackAlert may combine, in a non-identifiable format, the personal information you provide with information from other users to create aggregate data that may be disclosed to third parties. Aggregate data does not contain any information that could be used to contact or identify you. For example, MedTrackAlert may use information to determine geographic dispersion of its members.

Information Collected by Third Parties

The Site and the newsletters sent by MedTrackAlert contain links to other Web sites. Once you enter another Web site through an advertisement, link or otherwise, please be aware that MedTrackAlert is not responsible for the privacy practices of these other Web sites. MedTrackAlert recommends that you review the privacy policies for these other Web sites before providing them with any personal or other information.

MedTrackAlert does not control the use of cookies or other technologies by these third parties, or how they manage the non-personal information they gather through them. MedTrackAlert does require that parties who obtain cookie or other information through MedTrackAlert agree that they will not collect any personal information from the Site without your consent.

MedTrackAlert uses third-party advertising companies to provide advertisements for the Site. These companies may collect "click-stream data" about your use of the Site through cookies and/or Web beacons. Click stream data is anonymous and includes information such as a Web user’s IP address, Web pages viewed, date and time of use, domain type and responses to an advertisement by a Web user. Third-party advertising companies will use this information for marketing and sales efforts to better target advertisements and other content to visitors to the Site and to help determine which ads perform best and which content is most effective for a particular Site visitor.

In some cases, you may have the opportunity to provide personally identifiable data to a third-party advertising company through an advertisement on the Site. If you elect to provide such data, that information may be combined with other information collected from other sources and used by such third-party advertising companies to target you with particular advertisements and other marketing efforts that are intended to reflect your preferences and behaviors.
If you would like more information about the practices of the third-party advertising companies that service our Site and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, please visit http://www.advertising.com/Privacy.html, http://docs.yahoo.com/info/privacy/us/yas.html and/or http://www.google.com/privacy.html.

Redirected URLs

MedTrackAlert uses redirected URLs to keep track of Web traffic generated by links in our e-mail reports. Redirected URLs route subscribers to Web sites after recording who they are and the links they click. This information helps us further personalize the information we provide subscribers by sending them special reports and exclusive offers related to the topics that are most important to them. All subscribers receive newsletters as a benefit of signing up for MedTrackAlert, but only those who ask in their subscriber profiles to receive special offers receive this exclusive benefit.

You can control how information about you is used by MedTrackAlert

You can limit MedTrackAlert’s communications to you. If you do not wish to receive future e-mails from us other than emails delivering newsletters, please let us know. You can change your preferences, or opt out of receiving e-mails at any time by going to MyAccount and following the instructions provided. Also, at that Web address, you can update your user profile. Our e-mails will stop within ten (10) business days after you inform MedTrackAlert.

Information Disclosure

Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy or as specifically agreed to by you, MedTrackAlert will not disclose any of your personal information that it has obtained from you or through the Site. MedTrackAlert may release personal information to others to comply with valid legal requirements such as a law, regulation or court order; or in other special cases, such as in response to a physical threat to you or others, or to protect property or defend or assert legal rights. If MedTrackAlert is legally compelled to disclose your personal information, MedTrackAlert will attempt to notify you unless doing so would violate the law or court order.

In the future, MedTrackAlert may merge with another company, sell our assets or otherwise engage in a significant change in control or other similar transaction. To the extent we engage in such a transaction, we may transfer all information collected under this Privacy Policy to the buyer. Such buyer may use your information only in accordance with the terms and conditions under which it was collected.

Security

MedTrackAlert employs several physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect the information you provide us. Your MedTrackAlert account information can only be accessed using the correct password, and the servers holding that information are protected by a firewall. MedTrackAlert also uses industry-standard SSL-encryption to ensure your personal information is protected during data transmissions. Also, access to your information is limited to authorized employees and authorized vendors who need it to perform their jobs or to provide you with requested services and products.
